Heroes and Monsters

Year Group: 5/6

Subject: Literacy

This course will inspire young writers to create their own heroes and monsters based on ancient myths and legends. From Percy Jackson to Marvel’s Thor, myths have given us some of our most exciting stories. Over the course of the day, students will invent their own hero and write adventures staring their new character. They will invent the monsters who will throw obstacles in their hero’s path. Students will be introduced to some of the fundamental principles of storytelling which have stood the test of time and use them effectively in their own unique tales.
Pupils will have the opportunity to work with, learn from and be given advice on their writing by an experienced author.
